Autism Sensory Kits
You can now borrow Autism Sensory Kits for use in all branches of Haldimand County Public Library!
Each Autism Sensory Kit is a red backpack containing a teddy bear, a set of noise-cancelling headphones, a stress ball, a pair of sunglasses, a fidget spinner, a pop-it and a felt comfort blanket. In the backpack’s side pocket, you will also find an information brochure about the sensory kit and its sensory supports. The kits are designed for use within the Library to enhance your sensory experience.
Kits can be checked out at the circulation desk for in-house use. If you don’t have a library card, you can apply for one online, or we would be happy to register you at one of our branches. Alternatively, you can ask staff to borrow the kit from our special-use account. Please return the backpack and its contents to the circulation desk after use. Please do not leave the Library with the kit or any of its contents.
We are committed to making the Library a welcoming and comfortable space for everyone. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding these types of materials, you can email our library staff or speak to us at a library branch.
The kits are made available through a Haldimand County Accessibility initiative and funded from a grant provided by Autism Canada.
