Centre for Equitable Library Access
We’re proud to be a member of the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA), a reading service that provides books and other materials to Canadians with print disabilities in the format of their choice.
Through CELA, we can offer a collection of more than 230,000 books, magazines, newspapers and described videos in a variety of formats (such as audio, braille, and accessible eBooks) for qualified members.
Categories to choose from include:
- Current bestsellers
- Award-winners
- Classics
- Fiction
- Non-fiction
- Self-help
- Business
Materials are available for children, teens and adults with options to download books or receive home delivery by mail.
CELA eligibility
Access to the CELA collection is available to patrons who are unable to read conventional print materials due to a disability. This includes:
- A learning disability – an impairment relating to comprehension
- A physical disability – an inability to hold or manipulate a book
- A visual disability – a severe or total impairment of sight or the inability to focus or move one’s eyes
