Trees Are A Part Of Me
In the light, there was a tree.
But from the breeze, the tree felt free.
When I laid on the grass, I felt free.
Like the trees were a part of me.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2026 April Poetry Contest.
Participants were asked to write poems on the theme of spirituality. Spirituality is a feeling of connection or belonging to oneself, to others, to nature or to the wider world around us. Spirality can be associated with religion but it does not have to.

The way I feel when I touch the sand, the beach breeze fills my heart.
The soft sand the cool seashells on the shore,
to play with my friends all day long that’s how I have some fun,
to lay down on the sand to get some sun,
I feel like I belong when I swim in the warm water because it’s so fun.

Where I Belong!
I hug my friend so tight!
I love her with all my might.
I feel so happy with my friend.
I don’t want the fun to end.

I walk outside and feel the soft moss under my feet
I feel like I truly belong
I hear the birds singing
The wind tells me stories about nature and people like me
This is the special place I like to be

The sound of the buzzer
makes me smile.
The sound of the crowd roars.
He shoots, he scores is what it takes.
Skate by skate, dodge by dodge.
It’s all about skill.
And it’s hockey to me.

I read in my bright room.
It’s as quiet as a squeaky mouse.
Seeing words that make me feel new.
Now I know where I belong.

I feel the sun against my chest,
The wind in my lungs,
While I hold my friend’s hand,
I can feel the birds chirping in the mid-open sky,
The breeze going at my face,
I smell summer awaken in me,
And lovely summer.

In my little corner, I sit alone,
Nothing but darkness to call my home.
Sulking in silence, soaking in grief,
A crack in my heart, as big as a reef.
But then I saw you, and your great big smile,
Your gentle voice made my heart run a mile.
Your presence alone filled the crack in my heart,
So, I promise you, we will never be apart.
Now that we’re friends, I will tell you this:
The time we spend together, I feel pure bliss.
I sincerely hope that we never separate
So, to you, my friend, thanks for being this great!

Present in each breath I take,
Every moment I wake,
Aware of something deep inside,
Calm and steady as a guide,
Ever there, I feel its tide.

Finding light within my soul,
Amid the dark, I feel whole,
Inner peace begins to rise,
Trusting what I feel inside,
Hope and spirit never die.

The silence in a forest
is like a cloak,
a healing entity,
a spiritual being.
A home for many creatures of the earth,
even a place for us humans to find peace.
An escape perhaps
from the troubled world,
offering solitude and wonder.
The white trilliums
and bluebells, bursting with pride,
the smell of earthy moss,
and the moisture laden leaves on low hanging branches,
like tears
refreshing your soul.
Breath in all the nature you can
and feel its power,
its spirituality.

I am not this sorrow
I am not this happiness
I am the bliss that lives within
I am not this loss
I am not this gain
I am the harmony that lives within
I am not this fear
I am not this bravery
Am the peace that lives within
I am not these words
I am not these stories
I am the silence that lives within
I am not these tears
I m not these laughers
I am the calm that flows within
I am not these riches
I am not this poverty
I am the treasure that’s hidden within
I am not this health
I am not this sickness
I am the healing that’s filled within
I am not this hair
I am not this skin
I am the soul that lives within
I am what I am
Universe’s most beautiful creation
And the entire universe lives within ME!
