Babysitting Course

Spaces are still available in the Selkirk, Hagersville, Jarvis and Dunnville 2026 summer courses. 

Throughout the year we offer the Canadian Red Cross Babysitting course to youth ages 11 and up at the Caledonia, Cayuga, Dunnville, Hagersville, Selkirk and Jarvis branches. 

The Red Cross Babysitting Course is a two day program. Participants must attend both days in order to receive their certificate of completion.

Pre-registration is required and must be completed in person at the branch. Space per course is limited to a maximum of 12 participants.

Program cost: $40.00 per person 

 

Summer 2026 Babysitting Courses

Starting Monday, June 8, Haldimand County youth ages 11 and up can register for Canadian Red Cross Babysitting Courses being offered over the summer break at the Selkirk, Hagersville, Jarvis, Cayuga and Dunnville library branches.   

Registration for the course being held in the Caledonia branch will open on Monday, June 29th, at the Caledonia branch.

 Each course will run over 2 days from 10:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Participants will be required to attend both days at the branch and demonstrate a responsible and mature attitude in order to receive their certificate of completion.  

Registration must be done in person at the library branch, with the $40.00 program fee due at the time of registration.  

Dunnville Branch – Thursday, July 9 and Friday, July 10 - WAITING LIST

Selkirk Branch – Tuesday, July 21 and Wednesday, July 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Dunnville Branch – Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Jarvis Branch –  Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Caledonia Branch - Monday, August 24 and Tuesday, August 25, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. - WAITING LIST

To get on the waiting list, call or visit the library branch. You will need to provide your child's name, age, and a phone number. If someone cancels before the first day of the course, library staff will contact the next person on the waiting list to fill the vacancy.
